Your coursework stays yours.

The short version of the Privacy Policy and the Terms of Service.

On your computer

Your Canvas sign-in, your grades and what you turn in stay on your computer, not on our servers.

The app only reads Canvas. It never posts, submits, changes or deletes anything, and no AI model reads what you turn in or write.

Through torerotown.com

Signing in and the reminders you pick go through torerotown.com so they can reach you. That's all it carries.

No ads, and we don't sell your data. Torero Town comes through your school, so there's nothing to pay and nothing to cancel.

Better with everyone's usage data

Usage data is part of using Torero Town, the same for every student: it sends the names of your classes and of the items it finds, and how each reminder went, so Torero Town learns what is really due and when a reminder actually helps.

Never your name, grades or anything you wrote. The first screen in the app shows exactly what's sent, and nothing goes until you agree.

Frequently asked questions.

What is the Torero Town beta?

An early release for USD students. You're one of the first people using Torero Town, so it improves quickly: we ship updates often, and what you tell us shapes what gets built next.

What does it cost?

Nothing. Torero Town comes through your school, so students don't pay. Sign-up opens soon.

Who can join the beta?

USD students with a @sandiego.edu email and the school's Canvas. You sign in with your own Canvas account, and that's how Torero Town checks.

Which computers does it run on?

Macs with Apple silicon (M1 or newer) on macOS 12 or later, and Windows 10 or later. It doesn't run on older Intel Macs yet. On Windows, SmartScreen may ask you to click More info → Run anyway the first time, since the beta's Windows build isn't code-signed yet.

How do updates work during the beta?

The app updates itself. When a new version is out, quit Torero Town and open it again, and you're on the newest version.

I found a bug or have an idea. Where do I send it?

In the app, click Help Torero Town in the sidebar and send a report, or write to help@torerotown.com. Beta feedback goes straight to the people building it.

I'm already in the beta. How do I install it on another computer?

Download Torero Town on that computer, open it, and sign in with your USD Canvas account. That opens once USD turns on Canvas sign-in; until then, Torero Town keeps working on the computer you have.

What does the beta collect, and is it safe?

Your Canvas sign-in and your coursework are stored on your computer. The first screen in the app, "Before you start", shows what leaves your computer and why. Usage data is part of using Torero Town, the same for every student: you agree to it on that screen, and nothing is sent until you do.

The app sends what it finds and how it goes, so it can learn what is really due: the names of your classes and of each item it finds (its due date, points possible, how much of the class grade it counts for and how Canvas lists it), the past items Canvas marked late or missing by name, how you set up reminders, whether syncs work, reminders sent and how, whether work was turned in on time, late or missed after a reminder, your streak and how early you turn work in, your Yes / No / Already done answers, and when you tell us an item is wrong (the reason and which item). Never your name, email, grades or scores, what you turned in, or anything you wrote. It also sends diagnostics: screens you open, features you use, what you check off, confirm as due or mark as not a deadline (which item, by name) and error messages.

Instead of your name, each one carries a code made from your Canvas account number, so your laptop and desktop count as one student. It is a pseudonym, not anonymous: we only match it back to you to delete your data when you ask. Usage data is stored with Supabase and kept while you have a school license, then deleted within 12 months after it ends. To stop it, uninstall Torero Town, and to delete what was already sent, email help@torerotown.com. Betas before that screen existed sent the past-semester counts without asking; email us and we will delete those too.

Signing in and any email reminders you set up go through torerotown.com so they can reach you. Text reminders and Connect with Canvas aren't available yet; when they arrive in an update, they will go through torerotown.com too. No ads.

Never miss a due date.

Torero Town comes through your school, so there's nothing to buy. Get it, sign in with your USD Canvas, and the hunting for due dates stops.
